European Fencing Championship – was the biggest international sport event in Ukraine in 2008. European championships of Olympic kinds of sport are held in Ukraine once in 2-3 years time. European Fencing Championship in Kiev was held in the year of heightened interest to the sport events – almost at the end of European Football Championship and a month before Olympic Games in Beijing.
At the end of the May, UniCredit Bank and Ukrainian National Fencing Federation signed memorandum of cooperation. According to this memorandum, UniCredit Bank became the General Sponsor of European Fencing Championship. Thus, UniCredit Bank has supported and contributed to the development of successful Olympic kind of sport in Ukraine.
Ukrainian national fencing combined team ranks among 8 world strongest teams and always gets prize-winning places at World Championships and other international competitions.
